Zero Sum Game: 2021’s Top Finance Podcasts
24 February 2021
Hey, The Investor’s Podcast Network Community!
One of the most popular questions I get asked is, “how did you get into podcasting?”
Well, it all starts with We Study Billionaires, my top Financial Markets podcast in 2021.
It was the first podcast I ever listened to, and it quickly turned me into a podcast enthusiast. I went on to subscribe and listen to hundreds of different shows over the years.
I was driving to the gym before work one morning and I heard Stig mention on a We Study Billionaires episode that he was looking for someone to host a new show TIP was looking to launch called Silicon Valley.
I remember thinking to myself, “I would love to do that, but I don’t live in the valley and I don’t know anything about tech.” So, I blew it off and didn’t think much of it.
Fast forward a few months and I heard Stig say something similar about a real estate show. This time I knew I could do it — I was, and still am, a real estate investor.
At first, I wasn’t a great fit for TIP’s real estate show, so together we launched a different show called Millennial Investing instead. After Millennial Investing’s success, I also began hosting TIP’s real estate show.
Having been an avid podcast listener for about 6-7 years now, hosting two shows for almost two years, and speaking with countless podcast experts and professionals, I like to think I have a good understanding, or at least a relatively informed opinion, of what makes a good podcast.
Putting what I’ve learned over the years into practice, a list has been curated of what I believe to be the best Finance podcasts in 2021.
When it comes to matters such as this, there is clearly significant subjectivity to it and others may have a different opinion than me. There are also capacity constraints. The list cannot go on forever.
Here are the factors that were taken into consideration in choosing the best of the best. The first is, of course, the quality of the content. Meaning, how much value is the show providing its listeners? Second is how the hosts are, how the guests are, and what level their caliber is. Finally, how is the listening experience? Is the audio high-quality with good editing, minimal background noise, and without any side conversations or dead space?
That said, some of the top finance podcasts in 2021 are BiggerPockets Real Estate, ChooseFI, Motley Fool Money, The Pomp Podcast, Money For the Rest of Us, and many more. The full list of shows includes a listening calendar providing you easy-access to your weekly schedule of podcast “classes”.
You might be wondering, “why would TIP put out a list promoting top podcasts that are arguably its ‘competitors’?”
That’s a great question. The answer is because it’s not a zero sum game, and we truly want to help people.
At TIP, our goal is to help people all over the world grow financially and personally. As avid podcasters ourselves, we listen to many shows, too — my podcast app is full of different shows.
We realize another show may explain the same concept you’ve heard a thousand times before in a different way that really speaks to you, or a specific person’s story catches your attention and motivates you to change your financial future. That’s what we want for you, and if we can assist by helping you find other great podcasts to learn from as well, we’re happy to do it.
The list contains a wide variety of finance podcasts, ranging from financial markets to personal finance to cryptocurrency to corporate finance and more.
Whether you’re new to finance or a 30-year veteran of the finance industry, there’s a podcast for you.

In next week’s newsletter, we will be taking a look at the intrinsic value of an industry-leading company operating in a competitive industry that is ripe for disruption. Is it a value investing pick worthy of an investment in a tech-driven stock market?
One last thing — Ian Formigle, Chief Investment Officer at CrowdStreet, joins this week’s We Study Billionaires episode to talk about How to Identify Value in Commercial Real Estate.
All the best,
