Robert Leonard (00:00:02):
On today’s show, I chat with Adam Mead about his book, The Complete Financial History of Berkshire Hathaway: A Chronological Analysis of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger’s Conglomerate Masterpiece. Despite many books already published about this topic, Adam decided to make this one in order to share new and fascinating facts about these three financial giants. For instance, did you know that Buffett isn’t actually the founder of Berkshire Hathaway?

Robert Leonard (00:00:30):
We’ll also be discussing a few common misconceptions about Berkshire Hathaway, for example, the value of its float and the strength of its insurance companies. We’ll talk about questions on everyone’s mind such as, “Why hasn’t Buffett deployed his large cash pile during the COVID crisis? Has Warren Buffett lost his edge? If so, is he still worth copying? Will his company, Berkshire Hathaway, even survive without him or Munger? What are Buffett’s timeless principles that made him one of the greatest investors of all time?”

Robert Leonard (00:01:04):
Warren Buffett is one of my favorite investors of all time. Studying him is what really got me into stock investing, what made me really passionate about it. So, I really enjoyed this conversation with Adam. I hope you guys like it just as much as I did. So, let’s get right into this week’s episode with Adam Mead.

Adam Mead (00:01:52):
Hi, Robert. Thanks for having me.

Robert Leonard (00:01:54):
Tell us a bit about yourself, how you got to where you are today, and how you got into studying Warren Buffett.

Adam Mead (00:02:00):
I still consider myself relatively young here at 35, but I’ve had an interesting meandering journey, if you will. I come from a family of business owners. So, my grandfather had a tree service business. My father had a trucking company and land development business. I sold firewood through high school and college. I had a welding business. So, business has always been part of my DNA. After college, worked for a bank, stayed in banking for 10 years or so, ultimately leaving as a commercial loan officer.
