[00:00:00] Clay Finck: On today’s episode, I’m joined by my colleague, Shawn O’Malley, host of the Intrinsic Value Podcast, alongside his co-host Daniel Mahncke. They break down a stock each week and to sell 40 plus hours of research into an easily digestible discussion. It’s quickly become one of my top podcasts to listen to this year.
[00:00:18] Clay Finck: A few of the companies they’ve recently covered on the Intrinsic Value Podcast include TransDigm, booking Holdings, Salesforce, S&P Global, Crocs, and Ferrari. On today’s show, I invited Shawn to discuss how the Intrinsic Value Portfolio has performed this year, his investment thesis on Lululemon, Nike, and Adobe, as well as how he goes about researching stocks and developing a comprehensive investment thesis.
[00:00:42] Clay Finck: Throughout the discussion, we mentioned several resources for our listeners to learn more, whether that be the newsletter or previous episodes or valuation models. I’ve included those links in the show notes for those interested in checking them out. With that, I bring you today’s episode with Shawn O’Malley.
[00:01:01] Intro: Since 2014, and through more than 180 million downloads, we’ve studied the financial markets and read the books that influenced self-made billionaires the most. We keep you informed and prepared for the unexpected. Now for your host, Clay Finck.
[00:01:25] Clay Finck: Hey everyone. Welcome back to The Investor’s Podcast. I’m your host, Clay Finck, and today I am joined by my colleague and host of the Intrinsic Value Podcast, Shawn O’Malley. Shawn, how you doing today?
[00:01:35] Shawn O’Malley: I’m doing great. I just got back from 10 days in Portugal speaking at an investment conference, so there are worse things in life.
[00:01:42] Clay Finck: That’s certainly one of our favorite things about what we do is just the opportunities to travel. We are just chatting about some of the things we have coming up in 2026 here. And you and Daniel are actually coming up on a year since you launched the Intrinsic Value Podcast and you guys have just been firing on all cylinders.
[00:01:58] Clay Finck: Of course, putting out a stock deep dive every single week on the show. You’re also building out your intrinsic value portfolio in real time and providing continuous updates on the portfolio and your newsletter. We’ll be chatting about a few of the names in the portfolio today, but I’ll be sure to also get that linked in the show notes for those interested in checking it out.
[00:02:17] Clay Finck: So let’s dive right in here to the first question. Shawn, you and I actually joined TIP around the same time, back in late 2021, and I see many similarities in our development as an investor. So to put it simply, I think if someone were to go back and read or reread all of the value investing classics, they’d just come out a much different person.
