Today’s episode is going to be a bit different than most of our episodes. There actually won’t be a guest on today’s show. It’s just going to be me. And just for context, this was recorded on Friday, March 27. So anything that has happened after that, before this was published, or if you’re listening to this in the future, keep in mind that this was recorded on March 27, 2020.

In this episode, I’ll be giving my opinion on the current situation we’re all experiencing across the globe with the COVID-19 pandemic, also known as the coronavirus pandemic. I’ll also be talking about my opinion on what’s going on with the stock market, how to manage your personal finances in situations like this, and how real estate might be impacted. I’ll also be answering questions I’ve received from listeners of the show. I’ve had a lot of listeners of the show send me questions on Instagram and a lot of activity posting in our Facebook group asking about the current situation. Because of the interest in these topics, I decided to make this episode for you all.

Before we get into the episode, I wanted to take a minute to read some of the reviews we’ve been getting in Apple podcasts over the last few weeks. I apologize if I pronounce anyone’s name wrong. But Ryan Oliver wrote in, “By far the best podcast if you are interested in maximizing your future! The advice and first-hand knowledge given on the podcast are invaluable. Numerous guests have shared their personal strategies for financial success. This podcast and the guests featured enjoy educating people, giving back, and helping others gain financial freedom.”

Regina Williams wrote in, “A great podcast for those that want to learn more about the whole wide world of investing. This podcast goes over a lot from real estate, options, stocks… I would recommend it.”

JimMello49, wrote in and said, “Awesome podcast for millennials!” btbo_1 wrote in and said, “I really enjoyed the variety of topics and the personal development guests that discuss how to improve yourself and in business.”

KhanSwan’s review was short and simple, but he wrote in, “Amazing podcast!”

IrvinCC wrote in and said, “Wealth of knowledge. Glad I came across this podcast!”

UleaseSLF99 wrote in and said, “It’s a great way to start and continue to move forward in the investing world! It covers basic and fundamental principles with enough variety in the financial world. Amazing network! Glad to be a part of the community.”

I really appreciate everyone who has left a review so far, everyone who will in the future, and everyone who listens to the show every week. The show isn’t growing because of me. It’s growing because of you guys sharing it with your friends and family, and rating it highly on Apple podcasts. So I really appreciate all you guys are doing.

Now, let’s get into today’s episode.

Before we really get into today’s show, I just wanted to take a minute and say that my thoughts are with anyone who has been impacted by the current situation we’re experiencing, whether it was yourself directly or someone close to you. Of course, the health implications can be severe and are one thing in themselves. But there are also the economic impacts on businesses, schools, and other organizations closing their doors that many people are dealing with. If you or someone you know has been impacted negatively, whether it be in health or economically, by this situation, my thoughts are with you. I hope you and your families are staying safe and healthy during these challenging times.

First and foremost, I want to say that I am not a doctor by any means. In all reality, the public health implications of the coronavirus are far outside my circle of competence. I’ve read quite a few different medical reports from doctors about the situation. And the truth is, it just all goes over my head for the most part.

When I was supposed to be studying biology in college, I was in the back of the classroom reading companies’ 10-Ks looking for investment opportunities. I didn’t do this for all of my classes, of course, but being a business major, I didn’t see the need to study biology nor physics nor some of the other science courses I took. So in those classes, I would sit in the back and read companies’ 10-Ks looking for investment opportunities. It might not have been the smartest decision, and I might understand this stuff better today if I had paid more attention, but I did analyze and invest in Apple back in late 2013 or early 2014 in that biology class.

I briefly mentioned the health and science perspective just to let you know that I don’t know anything more than anyone else. Honestly, I probably know quite a bit less from that perspective.
